The Vibe
The resort is quite laid back, and we find that most guests prefer the daily ‘beach attire’ of sarongs and swimwear for the women, and t-shirt and swimming trunks for the men.
Dress Code
Women typically wear sarongs and swimwear, while men go for t-shirts and swim trunks.
Many people end up going barefoot around the property—it's just part of the easygoing vibe
More often than not, you will find that you forget altogether about your shoes, and go barefoot everywhere.
Key Facilities
Here's some key info about what we offer:
The main swimming pool is right by the beach, surrounded by large daybeds for relaxing.
There are two bars: one in the main dining room, close to the pool, and the Coconut Bar down on the beach.
The white-sand beach is great for swimming at all tides—best at mid to high tide, or through the reef gap at low tide.
We provide plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas around the pool and in front of the restaurant on the beach.
Beachfront Bures come with their own private daybeds and sun loungers, complete with grass umbrellas on the sand.
At our PADI dive shop, you can book diving, game fishing, paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling gear, and various day trips and activities.
We also have a Kids Club with a playground, a Teen Tent for older kids and adults, and a full-service spa open daily for treatments. There's something here for everyone.
Our snorkeling and scuba are world class. We have incredibly healthy, vibrant corals and sea-life.
Our 40+ dive sites take you to beautiful examples of different scuba adventures. We also run regular trips to swim with Manta Rays from May to October.
A daily laundry service is available to all guests for a small charge.
There is Cellular Coverage from Vodafone and Digicel. We have Starlink by SpaceX for Internet.
Adapters and Voltage Converters
The voltage in Fiji is 220 volts 50 Hz, and we use the same plug sockets as New Zealand and Australia. Please do not plug 110-volt products directly into the sockets as they will shut down the entire resort’s power system.
Ashtrays – Smoking
You are free to smoke on your outdoor balcony but please refrain from smoking in your room. Please do not throw cigarette butts on the ground. Ashtrays can be found at the Coconut Bar, Smoking is not allowed in the restaurant or pool area, on the dorm balcony or at the Salua Bar.
Baby Care Items
Baby care items such as nappies are available at the office or should you require items not found in our Boutique, we will do our best to try to source the items. We have a number of baby highchairs, and cots, if you require these items please ask the restaurant team, or the housekeeping person looking after your room, you can also seek assistance at the office or use this app to order things.
Bar Service
The main bar, Sulua Bar, is open from 7am to 10pm. Our Coconut Bar is generally open from 10am till late. Happy Hour is from 5pm to 6pm at both bars. Our bars offers an extensive range of specialty coffees, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. We ask that you provide your name and accommodation room number to the bar staff when placing an order and please make sure you sign the docket, we operate a strictly NO CASH POLICY, all items are charged to your room and paid for at checkout. You can also order in-room service by scanning the QR Code in your room.
Bathroom Amenities
You have been supplied with amenities and it is our policy to try and reduce the use of plastic on the island. Thus, we do not replenish these bathroom amenities on a daily basis. However, if you require more shampoo, conditioner or soaps, our housekeeping ladies are more than happy to bring you more, you can also request more supplies via this app.
Babysitters
A babysitting service can be booked at the office or via this app. Please allow us four(4) hours’ notice to arrange a babysitter. Our Mei Mei Mama service allows for four hours per day of complimentary baby-sitting to our guests in Beachfront Units and higher room categories. For Garden bure and Premium Garden Bures a flat rate of $20 for 4hrs per day.
Boutique
The office sells some basic items you might need, like sunscreen, deodorant, ladies hygiene products and other necessities like tooth brushes etc. If you need something we don't have we can try to find it for you and have it sent to the island. You may order most items we sell to your room via this app during office hours.
Coffee and Tea Facilities
There is a coffee station in your room; these are replenished daily.
Checkout
Checkout time is 9.30am. You will receive a checkout note the night prior to your checkout with your next days departure transfer information. Please check with office staff should you wish to have a late checkout as we can not always guarantee a late checkout due to last minute reservations. Upon checkout please collect your bag tags from the office and tag your bags for your next destination. Please keep your small bags and valuables with you. Large luggage should be packed and left on your balcony for our staff to come and collect. Please make sure you identify your luggage and make sure its travelling with you when you depart. You are most welcome to use beach towels and the dormitory shower and toilet block during the time you remain on the island until departure.
Please be ready and waiting in the restaurant and bar area 30 mins prior to boarding time.
The staff will beat a drum and call "boarding time".
Do check you have your passport and all valuables from the room safe before vacating your room as it will be very difficult or impossible to get these items to you should you be flying out on the day you depart the resort.

Dietary Requirements
We strive to cater for all dietary requirements; please ensure you document it on your registration form upon check-in as well as advise your waiter when ordering food. The kitchen has various alternatives for food allergies, vegetarians, fish only, gluten free or dairy intolerant customers.
Dive Shop
The Dive shop is located at the northern end of the resort where you disembarked the boat. Water based activities, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, scuba diving and PADI dive courses can all be booked at the Dive Shop. The Dive shop is open 8 am to 5pm. You can also book most activities via this app.
Do Not Disturb
If you are resting in your villa and wish not to be disturbed, please put the sign located inside your room, outside on your door handle.
Dress Code
Although Fijians are quite relaxed, their culture is formal, with ladies typically covering their shoulders and knees around the village. We ask our guests to respect our local staff and their culture when visiting the village..
Nudity is not allowed in Fiji and do try to avoid wearing swimwear uncovered in the restaurant area. We ask that you are fully dressed for dinner service as we do not allow swimwear during dinner service.
When visiting the village its polite to not wear sunglasses, or carry bags on your shoulder, and men should not visit without a shirt, and ladies should cover their shoulders and knees before entering the village. Please remove any caps or hats before entering the village.
Duty Free / BYOB
Liquor licensing laws mean that all liquors brought with you to the island is not allowed in the restaurant, bars or public areas. This restriction does not apply to bottled wine brought to the restaurant to be consumed with meals. If you wish to have a bottle of your own wine with dinner a corkage fee will apply.
Emergency Evacuation
If the resort has to be evacuated, you will be alerted by a loud blow horn. Unless directed otherwise the evacuation meeting point is in front of the main restaurant. Located behind the door of your unit is the evacuation plan as well as emergency contact numbers.
Games
A range of board games can be found at the office. There is a Yurt located beside the pool with a pool table and other games. Please note the Yurt facility is only for 10 years and up and Kids under 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Please refrain from entering the Yurt if you are wet.
Hair Braiding
Our talented ladies are also skilled in the art of hair braiding. Prices are available at the kids club or the office. To book your braiding please enquire at the office or kids club.
Hairdryer
There is a hairdryer in your room. It’s located either in the bathroom or wardrobe.
Hammocks and Sun Loungers
Hammocks and sun loungers located in front of the beachfront rooms are for the exclusive use of guests staying in those villas. Hammocks and sun loungers on the main beach near the restaurant and bar, or around the pool area, are for the use of all resort guests. Please be kind and allow other guests the opportunity to use the sun loungers by removing towels and belongings when done or on an activity.
Hiking
Ensure you wear appropriate footwear for any of the hikes that we offer. The tracks are mostly rugged, uneven and can be quite steep. The hike is only available on certain days and must be booked the day prior. Should it rain the night before the hike, the terrain will be too dangerous, and the hike will be cancelled.
As the surrounding land is privately owned by the island tribes and clans, we do not allow guest to wonder off the resort property. Please enquire at the dive shop the limitations of the accessible areas for our guests.
Housekeeping
Our lovely housekeeping ladies service your rooms daily. As an Eco-friendly resort we are conscious of our environment. We will refresh your towels and change your sheets upon request. To re-use your towel please hang them back on the towel rails, should you require fresh towels please leave the towels on the floor. If you need anything additional, please either ask the lady servicing your room, or use this app to make requests.
Insects
The resort does have some resident creepy crawlies. These bugs and insects are mostly harmless. Our staff are happy to assist with the relocation of anything that might be of concern to you. We recommend not keeping opened food in your room as it attracts unwanted visitors.
We also recommend not leaving your bathroom light on at night when not in use or leaving the bathroom door open during the day or night. Complimentary bug repellent is available in your bathroom.
In Room Dining
We offer in room dining options for guests. Please scan the QR code in your room to place an order.
Drones
To ensure the privacy of guest's drones not allowed to be flown over the resort due to open air bathrooms. Drones are only allowed to be flown over the ocean with permission from management.
Internet
Internet is provided on Space X Starlink service. The Wi-Fi is called Octopus Resort and is available in most areas throughout the resort. Dorms and Bungalows do not have in room Wi-Fi
Iron and Ironing Board
There is an iron and ironing board located in your wardrobe.
Keys
Spare or extra keys can be obtained at the office. Please do lock your room when you are not present. Please take care of your key as there is a replacement fee of $50 for lost keys. The one key opens all of your external room doors.
Laundry
A daily laundry service is available for a fee. Please place your completed laundry checklist with your laundry items in the basket provided in your room. Laundry put in today, will be returned to you the following day. You can contact the housekeeping department via this app.
The resort takes all due care with your laundry items, but unfortunately, we are unable to accept responsibility for loss or damage of any nature.
Library
There is a small selection of books to borrow at the front office, please feel free to take one to read during your stay. Should you have any books you wish to leave please feel free to donate them to our library for other guests to enjoy.
Lost Property
Please report lost items to the office. Any items we find will be handed in to the office for collection or will be located in the lost and found basket at the Saula bar.
Postcards are available at the office. We can arrange to post them on your behalf.
Making Reservations
As much as it pains us to see you leave. Our office staff are happy to assist with any hotel, boat transfer or reservations you need to book.
Mini Bar / Fridges
All units except dorms and Bungalows have mini-Fridges. Our Beachfront and higher room category rooms come with once off complementary drinks.
All additional beverages can be purchased at the bars and will be charged to your room account.
Mobile Phones
As a courtesy to other guests dining in restaurant please take or make your calls outside the restaurant area.
Movies/TV
All rooms have smart TVs. There are instructions in your room on how to use the TV’s. We don't have “live” television in the rooms, any major sporting events screened in Fiji can possibly be played live on request, one of the Bars during open hours. You may however stream your favourite services such as Netflix in your room, you can cast your various apps from your phone, laptop or iPad to the TV's, or you can log into the apps loaded on the TV. Please remember to log out of your apps before departure.
Office
Office hours are 8 am to 5pm daily. Please visit our office staff if you would like to exchange currency (USD, AUD, NZ or EURO) to FJD, or have any queries or requests throughout your stay. For all your travel queries, requests and other information please ask the office team. If you need assistance outside office hours, please ask at the bar or speak to the any of the managers on duty. Security staff are on throughout the night and will likely be found in the restaurant area should you need assistance or medical assistance.
We have a live in Nurse available for any emergencies.
Photocopying & Scanning
A photocopy and scanning service is available at the office at a small fee.
Pool and Beach Towels
Pool towels will be provided in your room upon arrival. Please help us and do not leave them on the beach overnight. If you require a fresh towel, please place them in the wet towel bins beside the pool. New towels can be found in the office or the white basket beside the Sulua bar. We have a one in one out policy for beach/pool towels.
Kids Dinner
(Supervised by Kids Club Staff) for 3 - 10 yrs and starts at 6pm seating is located behind the restaurant on the kids table, or your children may dine with you at your table and order from the kid's menu. After the kids dinner they can all head off to the kids club for a movie or other activities such as painting until 9pm.
Safe
Room safes are provided in all our rooms. Operating instructions are located on the door of the safe. If you require assistance with the safe, please call the office via this app
Security Personnel
For your comfort and safety, we have 24hr security operating at the resort, they wear a red Octopus shirt. If you need assistance through the night a security officer can be found in the area between the bar and dive shop.
Scholarship Program
Octopus Resort runs a program to assist with the education costs for the children from Nalauwaki Village. The scholarship pays for books, teachers’ salaries, boat fares, food and school fees. We would be very grateful for donations to the fund. For every $1 you donate we will match it with a further $1. Any residual funds will be allocated to other worthy community projects such as housing; kindergarten fund-raising and general village needs. There is a $1 per day scholar ship fund that automatically appears on your bill, should you wish NOT to donate this can be removed upon checkout at the office. If you wish you can add a donation to your room charge upon check out.
Shop
Our island boutique is located in the office. A small selection of personal items and clothing is available for purchase.
Spa
Our Spa is located near the bridge crossing past the past the swimming pool in the opposite direction to the restaurant. It is open from 8am to 6pm and offers a variety of massage treatments. Bookings are essential and can be made by this app here or visiting the spa directly.
Staff Tip Fund
The Resort has a staff tip fund box located in the office should guests wish to make a donation, or you can add a tip to your bill. This fund is divided equally between each staff member at Christmas. We ask that you refrain for handing out money to staff directly. Should you wish to tip a certain person or department you can request an envelope from the office and drop the envelope in the staff fund. Contributions you make to this fund are most appreciated
Sun Care
We advise guests to take caution in the sun and apply ample amounts of sunscreen and take advantage of the shaded areas. Fiji is located near the equator so the sun’s rays can be particularly strong, especially during the middle of the day even when it appears cloudy.
Telephones
We generally have good coverage, however if the network is down, you can use the Wi-Fi or see the office if you have any urgent calls to make.
Tides
The tidal range is approximately 1.5 - 2 meters and varies in range during the month, the tides move approximately 40 minutes each day. For more inquiries ask at the Dive shop.
Umbrellas
There is an umbrella in your room located in your wardrobe. If for any reason, it’s missing please request one via this app or ask your laundry lady and they will deliver one.
Water
Safe drinking water filtered to one micron is available at the Sulua bar from the green water dispenser 24hrs a day. When it's the dry season we do ask guests to try to minimize their water usage. Please do not drink the water from the tap in your room, it is more than safe for brushing teeth, however as it's a natural spring supply, it's best to drink the filtered water available at the bar.
Special Occasions
Many marriage proposals have been made in Fiji and we would love to help in any way to make a proposal, or any other occasion such as a birthday a truly special memory. If you need any help or suggestions for a romantic dinner, lunch or special moment, please do not hesitate to speak to our office staff who will make the arrangements on your behalf.
WiFi
Starlink WiFi is available throughout the resort and is complimantary, you will get a code which you can use for multiple devices for the length of your stay.
Laundry
A wash-and-fold laundry service is available for a nominal fee per bag.
Luggage
Porterage is provided upon arrival and departure from the beach landing area to the rooms.
Kids Club
We have a lovely kids club for all children between 3 to 9 years, Children 0-3 yrs need to be accompanied by a parent or a Meli Meli Mama. There are a variety of supervised indoor activities, for those that can swim, and are five years or older there is also a wide variety of outdoor, and water-based activities. The kids club Is free of charge and available year-round for children three years or older.
The kids club operates from 9 am until 12.30pm, 2pm until 5.00pm. At 6.00pm there is a supervised "kid’s dinner," and then its playtime until 9 pm
During the day there are lots of supervised fun activities, such as cooking lessons, face painting, crab and treasure hunts, snorkelling adventures, storytelling, coconut husking, nature walks, Fijian language games, art, sand castle building, hair braiding …and in the evening fun games and movies in the kids club hut. Kids can spend the whole time at the club or pick and choose the activities they would like to participate in, and for several activities parents are welcome to join in.
Mei Mei Mamas
This service is available from 8am - 9pm daily, A complimentary service for up to four hours per day for those in Beachfront Villa and above room categories, with each additional hour FJ$20 per hour.For our Garden and Premium Garden Bure guests, it is a flat FJ$20 per day for the 1st four hours, and FJ$20 per hour for any additional hours.
Wellness, Leisure & Sports
Medical
As the resort is located on a island we do have a resident qualified nurse and a medical clinic, and we stock many medical supplies. For any medical questions please email nurse@octopusresortfiji.com
Spa & Wellness
The Sulua Spa offers a range of treatments including traditional Fijian Bobo massages, facials, manicures, and pedicures using local coconut oils and products.
You can book for the spa by scanning the QR code in your room, or your location, or talking to our chatbot on the website. Just ask to "Book Spa".
A 60 Minute massage is $120 FJD. The spa offers a variety of treatments and you can book up to 90 mins of treatment time.
Swimming Pools
There is a large freshwater swimming pool located adjacent to the bar and restaurant area, featuring sun loungers and umbrellas.
Indoor & Outdoor Activities
Activities include:
- Guided hikes to Island peaks.
- Swimming with Giant Manta Rays (typically May through October).
- Game fishing and fishing charters.
- Sunset cross-training courses
- Cultural performances (Meke), kava ceremonies, and Fijian cooking lessons.
There are many other activites daily and they are posted on a blackboard near the office, some are free of charge like yoga, and some have a small charge generally if transport is required.
Free Activities
The free activities at the resort are Yoga an am or pm class, local snorkelling and fish feeding, the evening band and kava drinking, local craft market, Meke show, Try Scuba Diving, Basket weaving, cooking class, village church visit, bush walk, coconut demo.
Scuba Diving
A PADI-certified dive shop offers diving, learn to dive courses, snorkeling, paddleboarding, and kayaking.
We offer 35 different dive sites in the area from reefs, drop-offs, pinnacles, swim through and two amazing wreck dives.
Our sites are from 2 minutes to 25 minutes away, and our dives are all guided and from a boat. We dive three times a day every day, we dive at 9 am, 11 am, and 2 pm, equipment, and dive guide are supplied.
For your safety, our dive shop staff are required to sight your travel insurance prior to booking a dive. Regrettably, if you do not have travel insurance the Dive Centre is unable to take you diving.
